Carl Seitz – Author

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Carl Seitz is the chaplain for the Macomb Fire Department in Southeast Michigan and the disaster spiritual care lead for the Southeast Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is an adjunct professor of emergency management at Madonna University and a member of faculty at the Christian Leaders Institute where he teaches public safety chaplaincy.

Dr. Seitz served a 31-year fire service career retiring as Fire Chief in 2008. He completed his original doctrinal course work in emergency management with a research focus on posttraumatic stress disorder among first responders. He later obtained a Masters of Divinity and a Ph.D. in Christian Counseling. He has received a Master Chaplain designation from the Federation of Fire Chaplains, is a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains, and is a certified interventionist in critical incident stress management through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
