OUR STORY
Patton Catering was founded by Pamela Patton, head chef. After many years running a successful restaurant, Chef Patton is thrilled to open her catering service to reach out to customers all over the Des Moines and surrounding area.
Chef Pamela Patton was reared in Georgia and was privileged to spend many of her summers in Alabama, in the kitchen of her Great-Grandmother, Gussie Hayes. It was there, at age 9 is when Patton fell in love with cooking while learning to make hot water cornbread from scratch. She has loved it ever since. At even her young age, Patton quickly learned how the preparation of a delicious meal, steeped in tradition, was also a wonderful way to spread love and the spirit of family. Patton continued to cook for family and friends although her professional career took a different turn.
Being ambitious and driven, Patton was the first member of her family to graduate college and continued her education to earn a Masters Level Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Drake University. She moved to Iowa to marry the love of her life, Stanley Patton, Sr. and began working in the state Government, and then later on, to the corporate world. Having become successful in corporate America at the home of a large insurance company, Patton was inspired to make a change.
During a conference Patton was inspired by a speaker to change directions. While the presenter encouraged another attendee to look back on their life and consider new directions from past passions, Patton had an epiphany. It took only a brief moment for Patton to look into her own past to quickly realize that her lifelong love for cooking would also become her next career.
In 2011, after many months of preparation and planning, Chef Patton opened her sit-down restaurant, Patton’s Restaurant, on Martin Luther King Day.
Today, Chef Pamela Patton and her cooking is known all over Iowa.
