- Take part in excursions to explore the expansive sites of Barcelona and the surrounding Mediterranean landscape.
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, a region in northeastern Spain with its own distinctive history, culture, and language. Set between mountains and the Mediterranean sea, the city's population is 1.6 million, with a total of 4.5 million in the greater metropolitan area. Walking though the city, one can observe 2,000 years of architectural history – Roman remains, the network of narrow streets in the Old Town, the 19th-century Eixample district with its original examples of Modernista architecture – and all of this contrasting with the ultramodern showpieces that continue to redesign Barcelona's skyline.
Barcelona is the largest metropolis on the Mediterranean and although it is one of the biggest in Europe, it is still friendly, warm, and uncharacteristic for such a large metropolis, it is located on the beach. Known for being edgy and modern, the spirit of Barcelona has shaped some of the most fascinating art and architecture in the world, including works by Gaudi, Miro, and Picasso.
Join us on DIBCN’s Gaudi program, and you will get to see spectacular Gaudi buildings up close and learn how this great master invented and created great works such as the Sagrada Familia and Casa Mila, and that is just the beginning.

The Design Institute of Barcelona, an independently operated school, was founded by a group of Gaudi experts, architects, designers, and art historians. The school is founded with the goal of art education with a Gaudi focus and cross-disciplinary approach.
