About Yellow Jackets Basketball Camp
Improvement is our Business
The Yellow Jackets Basketball Camp provides instruction in a fun and competitive atmosphere. Our goal is to teach boys ages 6-17 the fundamental building blocks that make up a great player while creating a fun and exciting learning environment! We offer a low camper to coach ratio which allows campers to learn more effectively while enjoying their experience. Each camper will receive a comprehensive fundamental evaluation from their coach. Special awards will be presented to campers who capture team and individual championships as well as selected campers who demonstrate outstanding leadership ability and attitude.

Site/Lunch/Camp Bank:
The camp will be held for our 11th consecutive year on the campus of Gwynn Park High School, conveniently located in Brandywine, MD at the intersection of Rt. 5 and Rt. 301. Lunch will not be provided; however, pizza and other items will be available to purchase throughout the day from our snack bar. Each parent will have the opportunity to put money in a Camp Bank account to ensure that money is never misplaced.
On Point Fundamentals:
Campers will benefit immensely by participating in many of the same skill development drills that Coach Glick has utilized to improve the skills of his players for the past 29 years. With the help of former and current players, and an elite camp staff, each camper will receive individualized attention during drills, games and camp contests. Offensively, focus will be placed on proper shooting mechanics, ball handling, passing with both hands, screening, transition offense, and team concepts. Defensively, proper stance, foot work, rebounding, court vision/spacing,and team concepts will be emphasized. Our coaching staff takes great pride in helping each camper not only become an improved player on the floor, but off the floor as well. This is evident by the educational lectures done each day by our staff on topics such as academics, respect and hard work. Campers will be divided according to their age and skill level.
Camper to Coach Ratio:
We have always prided ourselves on a small camper to counselor ratio to maximize each player development. Typically, we have a camper to counselor ratio of 8:1 to ensure that each camper always receives individualized attention.
What to Bring:
Campers should come dressed in basketball attire. In past years, campers have found that they enjoyed having extra money to purchase pizza at lunch, or snacks and drinks at the concession stand between games. On Thursday of camp, each camper will be provided with their own camp T-shirt, which is theirs to keep.
Awards/Evaluations:
Each camper who completes the session will receive a comprehensive fundamental evaluation. Special awards will be presented to campers who win team championships, daily contests, fundamental areas in their leagues, and demonstrate outstanding leadership ability and attitude.
Video/Film Sessions:
Each camper will be filmed during games and their basketball performance will be evaluated by our camp staff. Campers will also watch videos concerning the different aspects of the game of basketball.
Contests of the Day:
Every day, there will be a special contestin the area of foul shooting, hot-shot, three-point shooting, and one-on-one competition, with prizes being awarded to the league winners on Friday.
