FLEET MANAGEMENT
Fleet Management is not a perfect fit for everyone! It requires attention to detail, tenacity, good communication skills, administrative, technical, and legal knowledge, environmental policy and procedure understanding, hands-on mechanical experience, perseverance, and so on.
You will be communicating with the Owner or President a company one minute, and mentoring an entry-level technician through a scheduled PM the next. You are involved in a big bore overhaul and could be dealing with delicate HR issues or costly environmental issues within minutes of each other. In a truck fleet repair shop, and in the yard where ready-lines and repair dead-lines are, the Fleet Manager is the “go to” person.
I was very fortunate to be associated with corporations who understood the importance of management and training for their prospective future managers. If this was the career path that you decided to take, you had better be prepared to fully understand and administer every aspect of the situation you are faced with, maintain total control through difficult situations, and resolve these issues demonstrating positive results to your customers, your direct reports, and the people who you report to.
It takes years for a Fleet Manager to be exposed to and face the daily challenges of fleet management and operations with complete confidence while making the proper decisions.
When you are evaluating your company’s present situation, consider our combined seventy plus years of experience in Fleet Management and Operations, and all of the hard lessons and mistakes that we have had to learn from.
We can mentor your Fleet Manager(s), by providing them with the knowledge, and recommendations for them to demonstrate positive performance and ability through our training and experience.
