MPMA, Inc. of Washington, D.C. – Chapter Six Members
The Montford Point Marine Association of Washington, D.C. Inc. – Chapter Six through our growth and experiences over the years expanded its foundation on the idea of helping those in need. Ever since our growth, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest within the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. Our Chapter is made up entirely of members and volunteers aimed at advocating patriotism. We are charged and committed to “preserving the legacy of the Montford Point Marines”; and we are also duty-bound to improve the social conditions of veterans, local families in need, youth and senior citizens.. That is why we are especially happy to find new members and volunteers who share our commitment to doing good in the world. Do you want to support us by helping with our work? OUR MISSION
- To preserve the legacy, and perpetuate the memory, spirit and comradeship developed through shared adversities by the original African American members of Montford Point Camp, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina between August 1942 and September 1949.
- To support and promote activities for the social betterment and enlightenment of our communities through:
- Social interaction and fellowship among members.
- Providing scholarship funds.
- Providing assistance to those in need.
- Informing youth of career opportunities.
- Conducting fundraising activities to promote the vision of the Association and its Chapters
- Participate and stimulate awareness of social and political concerns affecting our community. To these, and other tasks we dedicate ourselves.
