ABOUT ME

Dr. David Furth

Dr. David Furth is a licensed psychologist, graduated form The Wright Institute at Berkeley, California. He currently specializes in individual and couples psychotherapy with adults and older adolescents struggling with a wide range of different conditions and circumstances.

While he was born in the United States, he has lived in more than nine different cities around the world, and has worked in different types of settings, both in the East and West coast. Some of these include inpatient and outpatient units of psychiatric hospitals, addiction recovery clinics, schools and a DBT specialized clinic.

As an esteemed attending and faculty member of Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, he provided psychological services in both individual and group settings, supervised doctoral and postdoctoral students, and led conferences.

Dr. Furth is currently fully dedicated to his private practice, to providing lectures on different topics related to the craft of psychotherapy, and to the never-ending task of staying up to date with the latest evidence based practices, techniques and research findings.

The Office

Conveniently located near Bal Harbor and Aventura, on 130th street and Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami, Dr. Furth’s office is was thoughtfully decorated to create a comfortable environment that is conducive for treatment. Parking for guests is free and there are usually plenty of available spaces.

SERVICES

Dr. Furth is currently accepting new patients for individual and couples therapy. Working hours are Mondays to Thursdays 8AM-8PM and Fridays 8AM-2PM. Some of the most common challenges that people are struggling with when they come to his practice include, but are not limited to the following:

FAQs

Do you prescribe medication?

I strictly focus on psychotherapy and do not prescribe medication, however,if it’s appropriate for your particular situation I can provide recommendations for psychiatrists.

What type of therapy do you do?

Currently my main focus is on Individual and Couples therapy. In terms of theoretical orientation, I was trained with a strong base on Psychodynamic theories, but also utilize concepts and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), when and if appropriate. If you would like to know more about these different approaches, please feel free to contact me.

How long is a session?

Sessions usually consist of 50 minutes.

Are you licensed in Florida?

Yes, I have met all requirements of the laws and rules of the state of Florida.

Was your training accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA)?

Yes, I graduated from a doctoral program that is APA accredited and did my Internship in an APA accredited site as well.

Do you only work with adults?

I work with adults and with older adolescents, 15 and older, as long as the legal guardian or guardians are in agreement with the treatment

What types of payments do you accept?

I accept most major credit cards, checks, cash and wire transfers.
